Festival’s 35th Anniversary!
Vancouver’s oldest community-based festival, Powell
Street Festival is celebrating its anniversary on June 15 at Performance Works
in Granville Island.
In
1977, the first Powell Street Festival was held in Oppenheimer Park
on Powell Street,
in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, which was once the city’s Japantown.
Since then, the Festival has continued annually through the perseverance and
support of tons of volunteers and long-term community supporters. To stay
strong and innovative for another 35 years, we are hosting “KANPAI!” (cheers!),
a fundraiser featuring square dancing with Shout! White Dragon, MC-ing and songs by Jay
Kin,
a live and silent auction, cash bar and Japanese appetizers. No dancing experience
required!

We would also like to serve one free drink per guest to make a toast to both the Canucks and the Powell Street Festival! (Liquor sales start at 7:00pm)
